Frederick Ruiz serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Campaign for College Opportunity. Ruiz is the Chairman of Ruiz Food Products, Inc., a family-owned frozen food company in Dinuba in the Central Valley, which includes the brands El Monterey, Ruiz and Ruiz Family.

Ruiz has worked for more than 40 years in the food processing industry. Ruiz founded Ruiz Food Products with his father, Louis. Ruiz and his father received the United States Small Business Persons of the Year Award from former President Ronald Reagan, and the National Entrepreneurial Success Award.

In addition to his work on the Campaign for College Opportunity, Ruiz is on the Presidents Advisory for California State University Fresno; advisor to the Institute for Family Business at Fresno States School of Business; on the Board of Trustees for the University of California Merced; on the Board of Directors for the California Chamber of Commerce; the Board of Directors for Gottschalks, Inc; Board of Directors for the Hispanic College Fund; Board of Directors for McClatchy Newspapers; Board of Directors of Verdisys, Inc.; and is a former Director of the California Endowment. In 2004, he was appointed to serve as a Regent of the University of California by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
