Steve Weiner is co-founder, with David Wolf, of the Campaign for College Opportunity, and now sits on the Board of Directors.

Weiner is the retired Executive Director of the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities, part of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. He has held faculty and administrative positions at Stanford, the University of California at Berkeley (Special Assistant to the Vice President of the university and Associate Dean of the Graduate School of Public Policy on the Berkeley campus) and at Mills College, where he served as Provost and Dean of Faculty.

Weiner has been active at national and state levels in education policy. He was Special Assistant to the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders (the Kerner Commission) and chief of staff to Congressman James C. Corman. In California he has been a gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges and the California Student Aid Commission.

Weiner received bachelor's and master's degrees from UCLA in the fields of Engineering and City Planning. His Ph.D. is from a joint doctoral program at the Graduate Schools of Business and Education at Stanford University.
