Abdi Soltani | Special Advisor

Abdi Soltani serves as a Special Advisor for the Campaign for College Opportunity. He is based in the Bay Area. Soltani served as the first Executive Director to the Campaign, beginning in 2004, and moved into his new role in March 2008.
Before joining the Campaign, Soltani served for nine years with Californians for Justice in a variety of capacities, including as a Community Organizer and as Executive Director.
He also worked to expand CFJ’s organizational capacity to Fresno, San Jose and Oakland. Soltani also served as co-founder and treasurer of the Coalition for an Informed California, a broad-based coalition that defeated Proposition 54, the race data ban on the October 2003 ballot. Before joining Californians for Justice, Soltani worked on a number of student-led projects as an undergraduate at Stanford University. He was one of a group of young people that founded the James Irvine Foundation Fellowships for Sustainable Communities, as well as Youth United for Community Action.
Soltani was a recipient of the John Gardner Public Service Fellowship when graduating from Stanford and the Gerbode Foundation Fellowship. Soltani received a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Stanford.
