Introduction

The 2008 Save Me a Spot in College Contest deadline was March 15th.  Please stay tuned as the judging process begins.

We are no longer accepting contest submissions.

We will announce the start of online judging for the Grand Prize winners in May.

Contest Question: Why should California leaders save me and my peers a spot in college?

Background Information: In 1960, California leaders made a promise through the Master Plan for Higher Education to provide a place in college for every student who seeks the opportunity.

California is experiencing a growing demand for educated workers that require more of our youth to take advantage of this promise, go to college and succeed.

The “Save Me a Spot in College” scholarship contest gives you the opportunity to express yourself through a poster, TV ad or written word entry to highlight the importance of going to college.  The contest is an opportunity to learn about college, promote the value of college participation and make sure that California leaders hear your voice.

CONTEST CATEGORIES: Written Word, Poster & TV ad

Students entered three-contest categories.  Contest submissions will be used to raise awareness among California residents and leaders about the importance of providing college opportunity to students like you!  Your voice is important and needs to be heard!

HOW DO I ENTER?

All California 6th-12th grade students are eligible for the contest.

WHAT DO I GET FOR ENTERING?

All contest participants will receive a certificate of participation and college information guidebook! Plus, you have a chance of winning a scholarship!

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

We are giving away a total of $100,000 in scholarship awards to more than 100 winners across California!  Each Category will have at least one Grand Prize Winner who will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship.  Additionally, scholarships ranging from $500-$1,000 will be awarded to another 100 students from all three categories. Each category will have both middle and high school winners.

The number of scholarships awarded, by category and age, will be determined by the total number of entries for each category and by the age of entrants. No one person can win more than one scholarship award or prize of any type.
