The "Save Me a Spot in College" youth scholarship contest gave 6th- to 12th-grade students across the state of California the opportunity to express themselves to California leaders through various media to highlight the importance of college opportunity.

The theme of the contest was: Why should California leaders save you and your peers a spot in college?

An unprecedented 9,000 California youth from every region in the state responded with written word, poster and TV ad entries that call on California leaders to keep the promise of college opportunity for all qualified students as stated in the 1960 Master Plan for Higher Education. In total the Campaign is awarding $70,000 in scholarships to 107 winners from across California.
