Hello, I’m Luis Leon, I am 11 years old and in the 6^th grade.  I never thought about college at least not until I heard the presentation by Save Me A Spot in College.  I figured I would think about it later. 

Now I have been hit with the realization that it’s now or never.  Honestly, college seemed too far for me to reach.  Me and my family live in a single apartment and none of us have our own room, none of us have a good career or jobs.  I felt that I would never be able to pay for college, not even with two jobs. 

I know I have a passion, my passion is cars and building and re-building cars.  Me and my dad have worked on cars and I have learned a lot.  I was shocked to find out how much a mechanic charges for their services.  It seems unfair for families who rely on their cars to have to pay so much for services they really need. 

I always wished there was a place that would consider low income families.  Now I can make this wish come true. 

If I get to college I can earn a degree in business and mechanics.  If I price my services right, everyone will come to my shop and I will be able to run a successful business at a reasonable price.  Now that I have been given this opportunity, a good future doesn’t seem too far anymore. 

I am trying and I will continue to try.  I am a good student and a member of MESA.  I also play soccer and I box.  If I am given a chance, I know I will try a lot harder because my future will be so much brighter.  I would have a future to look forward to.  Please, help me get into college.
