You should save me spot in

College

 

The reason I think you should save me a spot in college is

like saying why do you breathe,

like saying why do we eat?

I wanna go to college to show people that

I can be something as a Black African Boy.

The reason you should save me a spot in college is

I wanna show people that I can be the next

Martin Luther King.

 

I wanna go to college

to show people how to be just like me.

That you don’t have to stay in the Ghetto

or sell drugs to get paid.

 

You should save me a spot in college

because I wanna be something in my life!

Not that black kid on the corner

with 3 brothers and 4 sisters,

But known as that kid on the corner

with 3 brothers and 4 sisters

that did something with his life

other than getting shot or going to prison for life!!

 

I want to be

known as that Black kid

who became a doctor, scientist, teacher

or something on that list.

I wanna be the best of the best,

have a big house,

or a PhD,

and all those kinda things and dreams.

 

The stats in my neighborhood sound like this:

the race is 70% Black and Pacific Islanders

well only 30% of kids go to college,

(and most of them are girls)

Or they end up in state prison,

get shot or killed.

 

I don’t want to end up like that!

And that is why

I want you to

Save Me a Spot in College!
