Dear Applicant,
Thank you for applying to our College system but we're sorry to tell you that there is no room for you. Your application is being returned because all of our schools are overcrowded.
Throughout the years money was not put in to building more colleges and nothing was done to make sure that students would not be turned away. We were impressed with your application but unfortunately, your near perfect grade point average and excellent test scores have all been for nothing.
Of course we encourage you to reapply in the future if more colleges have been built or when other changes are made. That is if you're not already too busy working two or three low paying jobs or worse like in jail.
Good luck,
California Leaders
This letter is a piece of fiction that I wrote. But can it one day come true. According to everything I read, one day it might be real.
I think all students should be able to go to college if they choose because everybody is capable enough and if they really give an effort, hopeful students should not be turned down just because there's not enough space or they can't afford it.
College is a way for people to make a difference in the world and for all people to feel like they are an important part of society. Without the opportunity some people may not feel like they have a stake in society and maybe those will be the few unfortunate individuals who are driven to join gangs or turn to crime. They might also be the people who end up dead by their 20's or something.
I am deserving of going to college because of the effort that I put into things and also because I am an intelligent student. Okay maybe I get bored in school and sometimes would rather watch television or play video games and sometimes my parents have to get on me like if I get a C on a test or something but I'm smart enough to know that college is important.
I hope when I am ready for college that California has added more space for me and my peers so that we can become successful and have choices. Don't let the years of hard work that I have ahead of me go to waste. Please save me a spot in college.
