I see three portraits

Before my eyes, I see three portraits. All intricate and all impactful, but they couldn't be a more depressing gallery. I walk toward the first and see what appears to be a happy bunch of adults well dressed but on the beach. They think to themselves, "I don't need college or a job. I am wealthy enough. I do not have to lift a finger as long as I live."

There's a college way in the distance. I see little specs of scholars earning their future, and sure they have to work, but they seem much happier. Do the people in the beach chairs truly realize their potential?

I keep walking until I see another portrait; a horrific scene. It is dark and not a fraction of hope is present. Two groups of people, also known as gangs, are attacking each other like wild animals. Despair is in their eyes as the uncontrollable factor that even with financial aid, they can't afford college. They must hustle their money elsewhere in addition to working unbearable hours at low paying jobs. Where are they going to turn? Is there any help for them?

Torn, I continue pacing to the next portrait. There is a girl. She looks like me. She is stuck in a chair working hard and practicing, in her opinion, the most beautiful instrument in the world (the cello). There is a button below this painting so I push it. Beautiful music flows and amazing talent is heard. There is no doubt that she is intelligent. Being part of extracurricular activities, earning good grades, and taking advanced courses all just doesn't seem to be enough. So she keeps practicing. She isn't rich and she not poor. She is smack-dab in the middle and she has a passion for learning. If only there was space for her to perfect her talents and give society some hope and lovely music. Her name is Lauren.

If California leaders were to save her and many others who could make this state a pleasant place to live a spot in college, everyone's future would be very bright and maybe, just maybe she could do something to help the other portraits change their form. Please help.
