Creating A Door To Opportunity

My grandfather once told me "patience is a virtue" that "good" things will come to those who wait. Well, my peers and I would like to refute that claim.

What is life with only anxiety and wonder? It is a life full of questions whether something good may happen. My peers and I would rather create an opportunity for ourselves because we know that something great will happen, not good, great! We are all capable of being successful, but it starts with opportunity.

Yes, opportunity knocks, but it will not knock if there is no door. California leaders should save me and my peers a spot in college because it will give us a chance to start building our doors for opportunity to knock towards a worthy future.

The greatest leaders of the world have not waited for their opportunity to come; instead, they created a door leading opportunity their way. For example, the well-known activist Martin Luther King Jr. did not wait for racism to end; he united the people. Abraham Lincoln did not wait for the Civil War to stop; he fought for victory. Ghandi did not wait for India to restore itself; he led India to its liberation. Mother Teresa did not wait for poverty to die out; she advocated for the poor. These leaders did not wait! They created a door and guided opportunity their way for a better future.

My peers and I do not want to live a life of doubts; rather, we want to live a life in which we can offer legendary contributions like our past leaders. Our parents have worked hard and made many sacrifices in order to give us a life to create dreams and ambitions. It is our duty to fulfill them and make our parents and nation proud. With college, my peers and I have a chance to change our lives, to be someone great.

It is our ambition to become someone great not by waiting but by striving for all that is possible. Give us the start to make something of ourselves and to help others with our knowledge. We have the determination to fight, to work, and to succeed. If we fail, we will stand up and try again.

California leaders, we are prepared to guide opportunities for a better future our way. Save me and my peers a spot in college so we have a chance to start building our doors!
