Rules :: TV Ad

  • All entries must answer the contest question: "Why should California leaders save you and your peers a spot in college?"
  • Each student may submit one entry per category (written word, poster, TV ad)
  • TV ads may be submitted by individuals or by groups of up to four (4) students total. Middle school students (6th through 8th grades) and high school students (9th through 12th grades) may not be part of the same group. Group entries will not be accepted that mix students from both levels.
  • TV ad entries must be 30 seconds or less. Please time your TV ad to be sure it fits this time requirement.
    • TV ads must be submitted on a CD or data DVD as .wmv or .mov files. If submitting on a DVD, please submit the file itself, not a DVD that has been formatted to play in a DVD player.
    • Submit the largest movie file possible that fits on a CD or DVD. Please do not shrink it down to a small file size (we need to be able to project it onto a large screen).
  • The CD or DVD you submit must be clearly labeled (on the CD/DVD itself) with your full name, school name, grade, and phone number. If the TV ad is a group entry, please include the complete information above for one student and list the first and last names of all other students in the group.
  • TV ads MUST be mailed to our office. You may NOT turn in your TV ad through email or YouTube. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • A copy of your Entry Form must be mailed with your TV ad entry. You MUST fill out the Entry Form online and then print a copy of it to mail along with your TV Ad. TV ads mailed with no Entry Form will be immediately disqualified.
  • If entering as a group, EACH student in the group MUST fill out their own Entry Form online and print out a copy to mail with the TV ad. Only submit one copy of the TV ad on a CD/DVD along with all the Entry Forms for each group member all-together in one package. Entries mailed without Entry Forms for each group member will be immediately disqualified.
  • CDs/DVDs will not be returned under any circumstances. We encourage you to save a copy for yourself before mailing it in.
  • If you are 12 years old or younger you must have your parent or legal guardian sign your Entry Form before mailing it to us.
