A Life full of Opportunity

What does college mean to the children of California? It means more than just a degree to get a better job. It means happiness for the kid on the corner who doesn't want to sell drugs. It's the opportunity of a lifetime for the kid who is tired of stealing to survive. It means leaving the ghetto, and entering a world of change. The leaders of California aren't just people, they are heroes to my peers and myself.

It is crucial for my peers and myself to go to a college because we can achieve a self satisfaction. We will have achieved our lifetime goal and allow us to begin new goals for our lightened future. Acquiring knowledge is more than just about getting money, it's about that happiness inside you when that light bulb turns on in your head. I know going to a university is extremely important to me, because I live to learn, and learn to live. I know that it will pay off for my future too. I can get a great job, live a happy life, and a less stressful one as well.

Going to college is mainly a self-accomplishment. I know my peers want this opportunity as much as I do. They deserve to have the same chance of going to a great college as the richer people of the community. Saving us a spot in college allows this dream to become a reality.

The leaders of California should save a spot in college for my peers and myself for all of these reasons and many more. Having a spot in college is more than a dream come true. For many kids who come from a bad area, they don't have many likely chances to go to college. Usually when someone's parents don't go to college, they don't. I would like to see this proven wrong by my peers. Both of my parents went to college for two years, but I would like to follow my sisters footsteps, and go to a university for four or more years.

By saving a spot for my peers and myself, the California leaders give this chance to all of us. Those children who would most likely end up dead by twenty, now have that chance to escape from that bad life, and enter a world of knowledge and opportunities.
