College Promise scholarship program recognized (newsbrief)
Ventura County Star | November 6, 2008

The Ventura College Promise scholarship program has been recognized for its innovation.

The Campaign for College Opportunity recognized the program recently, along with 14 others, for its success in encouraging students to attend college.

The Ventura College Promise pays the first year of fees for recent local high school graduates going to the community college, regardless of income or grades. The program began with 100 students in 2006. It now serves 2,000.

Students who have completed their GED, or who have completed coursework for high school but not passed their high school exit exam, also are eligible for the scholarship.
